A Marsh

This fresh water marsh in the Okanagan Valley near Okanagan Lake is a beautiful, peaceful, natural Wetland. It is an endangered habitat. This marsh holds water that supports all, or a portion of an animal’s life cycle, and is an important stop over for migratory birds. The marsh is surrounded by a buffer zone consisting of grasses, shrubs, and trees, with an emphasis here on the pussywillows. These marshes harbour many songbirds through the summer months, especially the red wing blackbirds. As a landscape artist, I celebrate nature through a bold use of colour, an appreciation of light, and an emphasis on mood.
