Bluebird's Okanagan Habitat

This “bluebird” painting was inspired by a hike in the White Lake Grasslands Protected Area. The interconnectedness of nature is important in this painting with its unique ecosystem. In the distance you see the silt cliffs that are familiar landmarks in this area, with a stand of small aspen trees in the foreground. The habitat of the Western Bluebird is limited to southern British Columbia, primarily in the Okanagan Valley. This Western Bluebird arrives from its wintering grounds in the south earlier than most birds and begins hunting for a suitable nest site in March and early April.
