Okanagan Forest
My connection to trees is deeply rooted in the many years I have spent walking, wandering and hiking in our beautiful Okanagan Forest environment. Over the years increased exposure to our local forest ecosystem has increased my appreciation for the ponderosa pines. The beauty of this coniferous pine tree, with the burnt sienna- crimson coloured bark, and bright green needles, is easy to identify. The science behind forest therapy explains how walks in the forest lower blood pressure, improve memory skills, and help our bodies maintain a healthier immune system.
My paintings of individual trees and forests celebrate our spiritual connection to trees, and hopefully this art work inspires others to protect and conserve our precious green spaces. I wanted this painting to exude warmth, so I used colours that were analagous, yellow green, yellow orange, and red. The bright warm colours advance forward. I hope you feel an emotional impact while viewing this representational painting of our Okanagan forest.
