Spotted Lake, Winter Blues

The combination of relatively moderate winter temperatures, and low winds creates the perfect opportunity to explore Spotted Lake in the winter. I often return to Spotted Lake to enjoy the sunlit circles of ice that reflect the sky in its many moods, as well as the contrast of the blue shadows that are highlighted on the surrounding hills where the sky meets the horizon. I love the way the distinctive aspens form a natural frame for my composition. This mineral lake is located along Highway 3, northwest of Osoyoos in the Eastern Similkameen Valley. Spotted Lake is a spiritual place that provides a place to contemplate nature, and feel at peace with oneself. This is an artist’s paradise where inspiration to paint comes alive.
