Surf’s Up

  • One of my favourite places to walk is along the shoreline of Skaha Lake on a warm windy day. Here the circular movement of brushstrokes represents the burst of water that radiates around the silhouetted shape of this steadfast gull. Lively brushstrokes are meant to capture the effects of the incoming waves as they are playfully pushed by the water. The reeds and sand plants in the foreground play a supporting role, and lead the eye to the focal point of the gull representing the “calm within the storm.”
